Bleeding gums are the top dental symptom of general illness, respondents say

Oral health reflects the state of general health, according to the majority of respondents in the recent DentaVox survey “Do You Listen To Your Mouth?”. For most survey participants, you can detect general health illnesses by looking at oral health symptoms. Gum issues such as bleeding and inflammation are among the most evident signs of other diseases. According to the results, digestive problems, type 2 diabetes, and bone issues are the top health problems that can be detected by oral health symptoms.

For the majority of respondents, oral health problems reflect general health conditions. Moreover, 15% of the survey participants believe you can always tell the state of general health by examining the oral health symptoms. These results are hardly surprising. Gum issues – the most common oral health sign of general illness

Bleeding gums (58%) and gum inflammation (49%) are the top signs of overall health issues, identified by respondents. This perspective is well in line with findings from other research suggesting that oral bacteria and the inflammation associated with gum disease might be playing a role in other health problems.
